From Paul Baron, founder
Ready to build something of your own?
Paul Baron has spent his life building businesses. He started The Wall Printer® so other people could build theirs. This page is his case for why printed walls are a good business to own, and why now.

The founder
Why did Paul build The Wall Printer®?
Paul studied mathematics and taught before he went into business. Then came retail, restaurants, software and international trade. Some ventures worked and some didn't, and every one taught him something about what it takes to build a company.
He came across vertical printing while working on other ventures, and in 2019 he set out to bring it to the Americas. The first customers came in 2020. In 2023, The Wall Printer® was named Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year by the Greater Wilmington Business Journal and UNCW. Today Paul also mentors founders and student interns at UNCW's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
"It only took me 71 years to become recognized as an overnight success."
Paul Baron, accepting the award, May 2023

The vision
What is Paul building?
Not a chain of shops with his name on the door. A network of independent owners, each with their own company and their own brand, with a team in Wilmington behind every one of them.
"The Wall Printer is not a franchise system. Our customers create their own businesses and their own brands. They get their equipment from us, and we give them a lot of support. We don't take royalties. This is all about entrepreneurship: creating opportunities for others. It's their own hopes and dreams, delivering wall art. It's about building a community through cooperation, not competition."
Paul Baron, to the Greater Wilmington Business Journal
Your company, your name
Owners build their own brands. Many put their logo on the printer itself, so every job site advertises their business, not ours.
No royalties
No cut of your jobs and no revenue share. What the work earns stays with the business you built.
A community, not a rivalry
Owners trade leads, pricing and what's working at a monthly meetup. Paul built it to run on cooperation.
"…to make the world more beautiful, one wall at a time."
Paul Baron, on The Wall Printer's goal
Why now
Why is now the time?
Places have to earn a photo
Restaurants, gyms, offices and shops compete for attention in person and online. A printed wall is branding customers walk past every day and post to their friends.
Wall art got practical
A mural used to mean weeks of a painter's time, or vinyl that seams, bubbles and peels. Printing straight onto the surface turns it into a job that takes hours or days, at a price far more clients can say yes to.
Many towns have nobody doing it
In a lot of markets, no one offers printed walls yet. The owners who show up early become the name builders, designers and business owners call.
It's never too late
Paul founded The Wall Printer® after a full career in other businesses. Owners come to it the same way: after the military, after a corporate job, or alongside a trade they already run.
Why this industry
Why printed walls?
- Every business has walls. Schools, gyms, offices, restaurants, retail, healthcare and warehouses all need them to say something.
- The work markets itself. Every finished wall is a portfolio piece anyone can drive by and see. People stop, watch and film while it prints.
- The work repeats. Rebrands, seasonal refreshes, new locations and property managers bring owners back to the same clients.
- The material cost is low. Ink runs about fifty cents a square foot, and most printed jobs sell for $20 to $40 a square foot.

Pricing figures are an illustration, not a promise of earnings. Your results depend on your market, your pricing and how much you sell.
RenderingThe owner-operator path
What does owning it look like?
You own the business, not a license to someone else's.
Price every job to your market. No rate card, no revenue share.
Builders, designers, schools, gyms, restaurants, event spaces. Go after the work you want.
Reinvest it, draw it, or put it toward the next machine.
Operator
You run the jobs, sell the work and learn the business. Every owner starts here, building a portfolio and the first client relationships.
Manager
Train someone to run the jobs. Build a menu of services with set pricing. While they print, you sell.
Owner
More crews, hired operators and systems that hold up without you on every job.
In their words
What do owners say it takes?
It isn't for everyone, and the owners will tell you so.
"If you're afraid to talk to people, that's going to be your biggest hindrance. You are generating your own leads. No one's going to help you do it."
"This is not a commodity. Nobody's business is going to fall apart without a wall print. You're selling them the vision. If you've never sold face to face and handled a no, this is not the business for you."
"Any time I've had a problem, the support team has been immediate to respond. It helps with my confidence. I'm not alone. If something's going wrong, there are people who can help."

Who it's for
Who does best?
The owners who grow fastest usually have clients before they have a printer.
- Contractors and painters adding a service their clients already ask about
- Print and sign shops taking their work off the wall and onto it
- Veterans and second-career professionals ready to run their own company
- Makers and designers who want a bigger canvas
- Anyone with a network of business owners, builders or property managers
- People who like talking to people, and don't mind hearing no
