Three machines. What they cost, and why it matters.
Three companies sell a vertical printer into the US at this level. All three put a good image on a wall. The differences that matter are what happens when one stops working, what it costs to run for five years, and what is behind it when the crate is empty.
When it breaks, how close is the fix?
When a machine stops, the only thing that matters is how fast the people who know it can get you running again. Here is how close that help sits for each one.
WallPen e2
Built and supported in Germany, then sold to you through a US distributor who did not build it. Parts and answers cross an ocean and a time zone.
Vertical Printers VP-G6
Built in China and sold through a US reseller in Asheville, NC. Support is stateside, but the machine and its parts come from overseas.
The Wall Printer WP-UV-PRO
The people who build the machine, mix the ink, run the training, and answer the phone are in one Wilmington building. When something breaks, the fix comes from the same place the machine did.
The part is cheap. The downtime is not.
One machine kept steady bills about $20,000 a month. Two weeks down is about ten thousand you never invoice. The bigger problem is the client who booked you and now has half a wall. Illustrative, based on published operator averages.
A head scratched on brick
An operator misses a run of mortar and it scratches the head. He has a spare in the truck, gets our tech team on video, swaps the head on site, and finishes the same day. The schedule holds and the client never knows there was a problem.
A machine that stopped
A machine goes down a few inches into a booked job. The part is overseas, the people who know the machine are in another time zone, and answers come back in days instead of hours. The job slips, the client hires somebody else, and the work that job would have led to never shows up.
Fourteen rows. Their numbers and ours.
The e2 and VP-G6 figures are theirs, out of the buyers guide Vertical Printers publishes for people running this exact comparison.

Price, ink cost, printhead, drive, speed and support figures for the e2 and the VP-G6 come from the Wall Printer Buyers Guide published by Vertical Printers, 2026. WP-UV-PRO figures from the Pro Series specification, Spring 2026, except head replacement, which is the T-Series price and is marked. Pro speed is quoted at 600 DPI in KCMY mode.
Fewer parts, and the ones that fail you can reach.
The e2 and the VP-G6 both run vacuum pressure. Pressure buys throw distance and helps hold speed, and it does that with more valves, seals and lines. Ours is gravity fed with a pump box that circulates ink every twelve hours and flushes from the touchscreen. Fewer parts to fail, and the ones that do are ones you can get to.
The e2 runs five heads. The VP-G6 runs two. The Pro runs one Epson i3200 firing white and CMYK together, so a white underbase goes down on dark walls and glass in the same pass. One head to calibrate, one to service, one to replace.
Their guide tells you to prefer rack and pinion over belt. We use a belt. Rack and pinion runs metal teeth against metal teeth and teeth wear down. A belt does not, and when one needs changing it is a part you carry in the van.
The Pro breaks into three pieces, each in a hard case with cut foam, standard. It runs on regular 120V. Dial it down to 600 DPI for block work, or up to 2400 when somebody wants a gradient that does not band.
Only the machine is paid once.
Machine, plus software fees, plus ink at 24 litres a year. Over five years the spread between the cheapest to run and the most expensive is more than another whole machine, and almost all of it is ink and software.
That is 800 square feet a month, the steady line below, about $20,000 a month in billings at the $25 base rate. WallPen's two years of included ink is credited back. Illustrative, and every assumption is printed here so you can change it.
Ink is the only material cost.
That is where the roughly 85 percent gross margin comes from. Everything after that is how full you keep one machine. Drag the slider.
At the $25 a square foot base rate. Exterior and specialty work goes higher. Profit is shown after about $200 a day in operator labor and about $700 a month in overhead per machine. Illustrative estimates, not guarantees. The machine is not the hard part. Keeping the calendar full is, and most owners are three to six months in before it fills. This is a sales business that happens to print.
The machine is the smaller half of the purchase.
