Venues and events: big walls, lobbies and short timelines

City skyline print on a display wall

Venues run on short windows. The concourse is open Friday, the lobby gets a new sponsor Monday and the brewery wants the rooftop wall done before the summer series. A wall printer prints directly on the surface at 10 to 20 square feet an hour, so a big wall becomes a scheduling question, not a production one.

What venues print

  • Concourse and tunnel walls. Team history, players and sponsor walls.
  • Hotel lobbies. A feature wall that matches the property and changes with it.
  • Breweries and taprooms. Brick walls, rooftop walls and the wall behind the bar.
  • Event backdrops. Printed on panels that travel or on the wall itself.
  • Music rooms and studios. Graphics printed on wood and panels.

Big walls, in sections

A long wall prints in sections, each one lined up to the last. The printer reaches 11 feet high, and the file is laid out to the wall before the first pass, so the sections meet where they should. A 1,000 square foot concourse wall is a week or two of printing, in sections that fit between events.

Sponsor walls that change

Sponsors change every season. Printing over a painted wall is a repaint and a new print, not a strip-and-replace of vinyl. For a venue that sells wall space, the wall becomes something you can resell every year.
